Fresh is best with this cranberry sauce! Orange juice and cinnamon round out this traditional sauce to make it the perfect compliment to turkey, stuffing or even chicken.

Ingredients

  • 1 navel orange  

  • 1 bag of fresh cranberries 

  • ½ cup sugar  

  • ½ cup water 

  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon or 1 full cinnamon stick 

  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg 

  • Pinch of salt 

  • Optional raisins 

Directions

  • Combine sugar, juice from the navel orange, and water in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine. 

  • Add cranberries, salt, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, and grated orange peel. (Include raisins in this step if desired) 

  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stir frequently and cook until all berries pop. 

  • Let cool and serve!
